Pageants challenged me in a way I'd never experienced. But was my five-year-old daughter ready for the same?

"I HAVE a slight toothache. I need to go to the bathroom. I'm at the edge of a headache. I'm tired from working 40-plus hours this week and taking care of a husband and three kids and finishing up my novel, and gosh darn it if my middle child didn't bring home a stray dog two days ago."

I ran a nonprofit theatre for seven years. Was what I thought I would do for my whole life, til it wasn't.
Arkansas Times must love me because they now let me review theatre every once in a while.
And this time? A play based on the O. Henry classic, "The Gift of the Magi." Theatre + literature? Yes, please.

I'm tired. But I'm pretty much always tired. So whatever.
My writing partner, Monica Clark-Robinson, and I finished the first draft of our Young Adult Dystopian novel this week. When's it gonna come out for you to buy?
From your mouth to God's ears.
I'll keep you posted.
